ZenithOptimedia Asia Pacific Regional CEO Phil Talbot today announced that Ian Perrin has been appointed CEO, with responsibility for the Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland Offices.

Perrin will be supported by the existing ZenithOptimedia senior management team of Strategic Director Nicole Milward, Chief Operating Officer Andrew Sherman and VivaKi Exchange Managing Director Mark Kennedy. In addition, Mark Kennedy’s VivaKi commercial role will expand as he investigates new trading methods with clients and media owners.

Perrin joins ZenithOptimedia from Naked Communications where he was Managing Director and Head of Communications Strategy. He has more than 14 years experience in media and began his career with Bates Johannesburg as a media planner and Ogilvy & Mather Johannesburg as a media strategist. In 1999 he moved to MindShare New York as a media director before moving to Australia in 2003 to join MindShare as Asia Pacific Strategy Director.

Commenting on Perrin’s appointment, Phil Talbot said: “We are delighted Ian is joining the agency. We very much see Australia as a growth market and in many ways a leadership market for the Asia Pacific region. We have strong ambitions and a clear vision on what we need to deliver to meet clients changing needs. Ian very much shares that vision and we are looking forward to him adding his talents in developing our plans further.”

Graeme Wills, Publicis Groupe Australia Chairman, added: “Ian’s experience and talent will complement the founding principles of ZenithOptimedia in Australia, which was built around creative thinking and understanding of Australians. We are very keen to push both of these principles as a means of differentiating ZO in the marketplace.”

Perrin said: “I am excited about the opportunity to work at ZenithOptimedia. It has, without doubt, the most exciting client list of any media agency in Australia, and a proven track record of delivering both creative and effective solutions for clients. ROI is something that too many people in our business pay lip service to, whereas ZO has built its business around this principle. The agency’s passion for insights and understanding the changing nature of Australian consumers in this context is second to none. I am looking forward to getting started and to growing its reputation further.”

Phil Talbot said that ZenithOptimedia has made a significant investment in the Australian operations this year, with the launch of several new specialist divisions, including Performics (search and performance), Newcast (content creation) and Ninah (analytics and economic modelling).

“We have also made a series of key senior appointments to strengthen our strategic offering and client leadership, including Leanne Brinkies as General Manager of ZO Melbourne, Gary Peace as Business Director and Uma Sekar as Strategy Director.”

Perrin will join ZenithOptimedia on 28th November, 2011.
