Credit card business has been gradually emerging as a must-win market for banks, as the competition across China’s banking industry gets even fiercer. The Bank of Communications decided to call a pitch in order to work out a holistic communications strategy plan and media effectiveness measurement for the following three years, so as to adapt itself in terms of media selection for an even more heated competition.

The pitch lasted for three months and three renowned media agencies, including ZenithOptimedia, were involved. Finally, ZenithOptimedia stood out and won the media business, worth 100 million RMB, thanks to its creative communication strategy, the effectiveness-oriented ROI tools and chemistry with the client.

Derek Kwok, Managing Director of Zenith Media China, praised this success, saying “Winning the media business of the Bank of Communications is a testimony to our leading market status of media communication in the financial areas in China and this will boost our morale as well”.
“Bank of Communications now ranks in the Top 100 global banks and we are very much honored to cooperate and help to facilitate its successful transformation of international strategy”, said Steven Chang, CEO of ZenithOptimedia Greater China. “Our team has abundant media experience, precise consumer insights, leading and creative ideas in the industry and unique strategy development as well as an effective implementation system. We have every single reason to work together with the Bank of Communications to usher in more media communication value.”
Bank of Communications was founded in 1908 and is one of the four major stated-owned banks in China. In 2005, it became the first bank from mainland China listed in HK.
